Cecil "Trey" Hightower
Trey was born and raised in Jefferson County and lives in Waukeenah with his wife, Ashley, and their son, Beau. He graduated from Aucilla Christian Academy in 2004 and worked in the Farmers and Merchants Bank operations department for eight years. He then accepted a position with the City of Tallahassee Treasurer Clerk's Office, where he has been for the past ten years. In his free time, he enjoys going to church with his family, hunting, and fishing.
Trey began working for the Jefferson County Clerk's Office in November 2024. His duties include managing court sessions, processing civil and criminal cases, overseeing jury management, and maintaining court records and evidence. The Clerk also serves as recorder of deeds, Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners, and accountant and custodian of county funds. His role also encompasses pre-auditing expenditures, processing marriage licenses, and offering IT support for county departments.
Trey enjoys having the opportunity to serve the citizens of Jefferson County, and his two primary goals are to provide exceptional customer service and to ensure fiscal responsibility for the people.
Sherry Sears
Sherry was born and raised in Jefferson County, and she attends church locally where she plays the piano. She enjoys spending time outside kayaking and swimming. She also loves getting together with her family, playing games, and having cookouts. She enjoys making others happy by cooking or baking for them.
Sherry started with the Clerk's office in May 2002 as the Child Support, Small Claim, County Court, and Passport Deputy Clerk. Since then, she has learned every job and as of September 2023, she was awarded the role of Chief Deputy Clerk. Since the beginning of her career, she has enjoyed working with the people of Jefferson County. It has been a wonderful opportunity for her to work in and for her hometown.
Glorianna Mediate
Glorianna was born and raised in Jefferson County. Prior to her employment at the Clerk's Office, Glorianna worked for Capital City Bank for 12 years. She has been married to her husband, David Mediate, for 14 years, and they have many children and grandchildren that they enjoy spending time with. She enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her friends and family in her free time.
She has been a team member since March 2019, which equates to five years in March 2024. She is the Marriage Clerk, responsible for issuing marriage licenses and conducting marriage ceremonies. She handles small claims, dependency, passports, records requests, and traffic. Glorianna loves working in the heart of Monticello and serving the citizens of Jefferson County.
Lila Eaton
Lila was born and raised in Port Charlotte, Florida, and later moved to Tallahassee to attend Florida State University. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing, and she is currently enrolled in the Master's Business Administration program at FSU. She was a marketing intern at the Clerks of Court Operations Corporation during her undergraduate years, where she gained valuable communications knowledge as it pertains to the duties of the Clerks.
Lila joined the Jefferson County Clerk's team in January 2024 as the Transparency Clerk. Her duties are to engage in social outreach initiatives and promote our office's achievements, events, and responsibilities to the public. She is also responsible for Probate, Recording, and Mental Health. She enjoys forming relationships with the team members and learning about the rich history of Monticello.
Nikki Salls
Nikki was born and raised in Marianna, Florida, and she has since moved to Waukeenah in 2008 with her husband and their two boys. She has worked in the accounting field since she was 16, and she graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance in 2007. Prior to her service at the Jefferson County Clerk's Office, Nikki worked in Accounts Receivable and Grants for FDOT.
Nikki joined the team in June 2022 and has been with the Clerk's Office for almost two years. As the Accounts Payable Clerk, she processes vendor payments and pays bills for the Board and County departments. She also handles P-cards, processes 1099s, and assists with financial records requests. Nikki enjoys her interactions with our citizens and vendors, and she especially appreciates spending each day with her co-workers.
Lynn McDonald
Lynn was born and raised in Jefferson County, and she graduated from Jefferson County High School in 1992. She married her husband, Jason McDonald, right here on the Courthouse steps in 1994! They have two children together: their son Jared and their daughter Summer who both live in the county as well.
Lynn began working with the Department of Corrections in 2013 as an Administrative Assistant in the Medical Unit. In 2022, she began working at the Jefferson County Solid Waste Department as an Administrative Assistant.
Lynn joined our team in May 2024 as the Family Law Clerk. Her duties include child support issues, processing marriage dissolutions, initiating parenting plans, name changes, and adoptions. She highly enjoys servicing her community and helping others.
Gwendolyn Leonard Reshard
Gwen is a graduate of Bethune-Cookman University, and she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education. She has nine siblings and is married with one daughter and two grandchildren. She also has a twin sister!
Gwen was born and raised in Jefferson County, and she enjoys shopping and sleeping whenever the time provides itself. After graduating from college, she started working for the Clerk's Office and has been here ever since. She joined the team in 1976 and has been a member for 47 years.
Gwen works part-time in Accounts Receivables, which entails posting all receipts, posting items from the Flair reports and deposits from the departments. She verifies the cash and checks before she submits them for deposit. Gwen enjoys working with her coworkers and the customers who come to take care of their business.
Rita Knecht
Rita was born and raised in Jefferson County, and she has worked at the Clerk's office for 25 years overseeing the Criminal Department. She loves the outdoors, including camping, fishing, hunting, the beach, and buggy riding.
Rita has worked at the Clerk's office since December 28, 1998. She is the Court Supervisor, so she processes all arrests for the county and sets court dates, enters dispositions in cases, prepares DOC packets, handles jury duty and jury trials, and processes criminal appeals. She loves the small-town atmosphere in Monticello and knowing her community.
Wanda Bailey
Wanda was born and raised in Florida, and she has three grandchildren. She loves to ride motorcycles and side-by-sides and spend time with her family and friends.
She began working at the Jefferson County Courthouse in April 2022, and her duties are Civil Traffic. This includes making payments, entering citations, collections, suspensions, traffic court, TCAT errors, and tax deeds, preparing all documentation to set it for auction, county ordinances, taking payments, and setting for court if needed. She is also the backup for passports and marriage licenses/ceremonies. Her favorite part about her job is being able to assist the community.
Noah Black
Noah has lived in Monticello his entire life, and he graduated from Florida High School in 2024. He will be attending Florida State University and majoring in Political Science, with plans to attend law school.
He began working at the Clerk's Office in May 2024 as the Records Management Liaison Officer. He is tasked with ensuring that all Clerk's Office records are properly managed per Florida Law. His favorite part about working for the Jefferson County Clerk of the Circuit Court is the environment and team of people that make up the office.
Jessica Sexton
Jessica was born and raised in Georgia. She moved to Monticello in 2023 after meeting her husband, Chris Sexton, whom she married in April 2024. While living in Georgia, Jessica worked for a criminal defense attorney for five years. She enjoys kayaking, fishing, riding, going to the beach, and watching Marcus, Sierra, and Zoe play sports.
Jessica began working for the Clerk's Office in October 2024, and her duties involve case management, scheduling, courtroom support, record keeping, and document preparation. She enjoys the small-town feel of Monticello, the sense of family among her co-workers, and the opportunity to serve the community.
